Dental Implants are the ideal replacement option for Missing Teeth. They may be used to replace teeth that have to be removed because of being badly broken, too loose or having cracks down the tooth root.
Dental Implants are also known as Teeth Implants because they provide a strong and long-lasting substitute for natural teeth. They mimic natural teeth roots and therefore provide a permanent and versatile method to replace missing teeth.
Whether you need to replace a single missing tooth or several missing teeth, Dental Implants provide proven solutions for most situations.
Replace a Single Missing Tooth with a Dental Implant
A dental crown permanently attached onto a dental implant is often the best choice to replace a single tooth.
There are many advantages of a single dental implant and crown. Most importantly it will look, feel and function like a natural tooth. This allows you to smile and eat with confidence.
Other single tooth replacement options are either a dental bridge or a removable partial denture. The Implant Dentists can discuss all options suitable for you after careful assessment during a Dental Implant Consultation – see our Special Offer or Contact Us to arrange a consultation.
Alternatives to Single Dental Implants
A Dental Bridge is one of the alternatives to dental implants. It involves removing tooth structure from the supporting teeth (on either side of the space) for dental crowns. These crowns are permanently joined by the bridging tooth to create a bridge. It is generally considered a disadvantage if one or both of the teeth on either side of the space do not require crowns for extra strength, as it would mean that ‘healthy’ tooth structure has to be removed to accommodate a dental bridge.
Dental Bridges are not an ideal option if one (or both) of the supporting teeth for the bridge are not predicted to last a long time. This is because if one of these teeth has to be extracted, then the bridge would also have to be removed and replaced with another option. Extra expense would be involved in doing so, and can be avoided with the proper planning and consideration of using a Dental Implant in such instance.
Partial Dentures are the other tooth replacement option when compared to Dental Implants. Their cost is less than Dental Implants or Dental Bridges. However they are a removable option.
Some disadvantages of partial dentures include: food trapping underneath the denture; the need for clasps around existing teeth that may be unaesthetic; bulkiness of denture material which may effect speech and your ability to taste depending on the design; and trapping of plaque around existing teeth which can increase the risk of decay and gum disease.
